Learning

from the Past

to Improve

the Future

for Humanity

We are a global learning network that aims to promote an understanding of the past that serves as a foundation for a future that is fair, just, and democratic. To do this, we initiate collaborations among like-minded individuals and organisations in the field of history and civics education and the humanities, and engage in the development of formal and non-formal educational materials for youth and adults of all ages.

  • Contested Histories studies disputes over statutes, street names and other historical legacies in public spaces with an aim to identify principles, processes and best practices for decision makers, civil society advocates, and educators confronting the complexities of divisive historical memories.

  • The Rewind network works on the development of educational resources for history and citizenship educators that deal with the complexity of the past, promote multiperspectivity and critical thinking skills. Most of them are ready-to-use resources that are transferable to different teaching contexts.

  • Our members organise a variety of opportunities for educators, education professionals, young people and other stakeholders to meet, share expertise and experiences on different themes and challenges.

We are currently in the process of planning the upcoming series.
